Jonelle was an Alumni Award winner at the University of Nottingham in 2023. It was in celebrationship of their alumni community and sharing stories of how they carry Nottingham's values into the world.
She was presented this award for her contribution to journalism at BBC News, anchoring for BBC Three’s The Catch Up and presenting impactful social media news content. Her investigation into social media fraud during the pandemic influenced app improvements to protect consumers, while her exposé on the £500 million Youth Investment Fund failure led to its reinstatement. Recognised for her immense community contributions, she received a hand-painted mural in London and was nominated for the Woman of the Year Award in 2021.

Jonelle Awomoyi introduced the Premiere League Inspires Challenged in September 2020 where she tasked young people from across England and Wales to develop their ideas to help the mental health of others as part of the Premier League Inspires Challenge.
And all of their hard work throughout the year was celebrated at a special event hosted by radio and TV broadcaster Lauren Layfield and filmed at Premier League Productions in London and Jonelle was invited back to speak with the young people.

This event was in partnership with My Life My Say (mlms), a youth-led, non-partisan, UK based charity on a mission to empower young people to participate in democracy by creating spaces for dialogue across communities and generations and by providing young and socially excluded citizens with the tools to lead change within society.
It is also part of the berggruen institute’s future of democracy’s youth environment service, a campaign to build broad-based commitments from governments to invest in jobs, national service, and other opportunities for young people to work together, acquire skills and training, and build common purpose and solidarity in protecting their communities from climate change.

The United Nations is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2020. To mark her birthday, she launched an international campaign around the theme "Shaping our future together". Through this campaign, she wants to organize the biggest global conversation around international cooperation and building a better future. As a UN Youth Campion, Jonelle moderated a UK panel focusing on the advancement of technology for UK Youth on the United Nations.

HOSTED 'CHANGING THE NARRATIVE: KNIFE CRIME IN THE UK' AT THE HOUSE OF PARLIAMENT, LONDON

Jonelle hosted this event in Parliament which aimed to engage with both Members of Parliament and both victims and reformed offenders of knife crime. Some attendees were family and close friends of people who have lost their life this particular crime. Jonelle introduced discussion on such a sensitive matter bridging the gap between two different worlds. She introduced a workshop run by the Street Doctors, who delivered face-to-face emergency first-aid training to people in attendance as part of their Reducing Violence Programme or StepWise Programme. This event was to empower young people to become lifesavers in their communities and give them confidence to make informed decisions about keeping themselves and others safe and to create dialogue between politicians and people they serve to create more effective legislation.
HOSTED THE UK YOUTH GALA DINNER 2019
Jonelle hosted the seventh UK Youth Gala Dinner and Auction attended by HRH Princess Anne and around 200 others.
All record of £107,000 was raised in just one night to support UK Youth’s innovative youth development work which reaches 790,000 young people each year. UK Youth help young people to gain life skills and accredited awards that build confidence, resilience and make them more employable.

On 9 November 2016, a tram operated by Tramlink derailed and overturned on a sharp bend approaching a junction in Croydon. Of a total 69 passengers, there were seven fatalities and 62 injured, 19 of whom sustained serious injuries. This was the first tram incident in the United Kingdom in which passengers died since 1959.
Jonelle spoke about the fatality urging youth MPs to consider voting for transport safety as a main campaign.
